Coastal areas see jump in popularity

Rightmove has released its headline figures since the lockdown on Agents was lifted. As a Devon based company, we are not surprised that the coastal areas of Cornwall, Devon and Bournemouth have seen some of the biggest jumps in buyer interest.

Combined with the statistics that the biggest increase in priority is buyers and renters wanting access to a garden, the nation has relished in the great outdoors during lockdown and returned to basics. Re-evaluating work life balance, wanting space to work from home has also driven the second largest increase of wanting a bigger home.

The TR postcode which covers half of Cornwall has seen the second largest change in buyer interest at an extra 20%, followed by Bournemouth at 17% and closely by Plymouth at 12%. Our research on Rightmove also shows the TR postcode didn’t suffer from a high loss of searches as many towns and cities did when lock down began, and climbed back up in May 2020 when lock down was lifted on Agents.
